But as much as Otto cherished those days of wrenching in the garage and tearing across the dunes, his father encouraged him to seek something more meaningful in life.

At the age of 24, Otto heeded his father’s advice and set off for the United States, where he found himself captivated by the wild beauty of the northern Pacific. The cold, untamed waters of Alaska called to him, and he spent the next ten years working on fishing boats, braving the elements and living the seafarer’s life. But fate took an unexpected turn when a minor accident left Otto with an injury to his throat and neck, forcing him to leave the life he had grown to love.

Searching for a new chapter, Otto made his way to Morro Bay, California. The moment he arrived, he knew he had found his place. The rugged coastline, the roar of the ocean, and the small-town charm reminded him of everything he loved about the sea and the open road. It wasn’t long before he discovered KWIMM, where he could blend his passion for cars, rock and roll, and the ocean into a show that resonated with listeners who shared his love for life’s adventures.
