We are thrilled to share some exciting news about Wimmer’s Automotive, formerly Jim’s Automotive. Our shop has a fresh look & a new name, inspired by our journey as a family & our deep ties to this bayside community. Established in 1964, we are proud to hold the distinction of being the 7th business license in Morro Bay! While we operated as Jim’s Automotive for decades, it might surprise you to know there hasn’t been a “Jim” at the shop since 1980. With the Wimmer family at the helm, we felt it was the perfect time to embrace a new identity that reflects who we are today.
Ritchie Wimmer began his journey here as an apprentice in 2008 under then owner John Neiswanger. Ritchie worked hard over the years & was able to purchase the shop in 2013. Last fall, Ritchie also stepped into a new role as the full-time Automotive Technology Instructor at Morro Bay High School, where his students call him “Mr. Wimmer” & NOT “Mr. Jim.” Inspired by that name & the bond he shares with his sister, Claire Wimmer, we proudly renamed the shop to Wimmer’s Automotive. Along with the name change, we’ve updated our shop’s colors to teal, viper green & gray, leaving behind the old gray & red palette. These vibrant new colors symbolize a fresh new chapter for our shop while honoring its long-standing roots in Morro Bay.
Even though our name & colors have changed, our dedication to providing outstanding automotive services remains as strong as ever in the community we call home. We’re also excited to announce the development of our YouTube channel @WimmersAutomotive, featuring KWIMM 89.9, a fun & "fictitious" radio station with whacky hosts & quirky callers. We aim to launch this creative project by summer 2025, adding a touch of entertainment to your drive along our stunning Central Coast.
