Wimmer’s Automotive in Morro Bay, California, is more than just an auto repair shop. We’re immersed in our community with our neighbors. In addition to helping you keep your daily driver safe and roadworthy, we’re involved in the local Miata racing scene and active in training the next generation of certified automotive technicians. Thus, we’re committed to the greater good of both vehicles and the people who drive them. Those commitments have earned us recognition as a AAA-approved shop and a CarFax Top Shop. More Than 60 Years of Service
For over 60 years, our family-operated shop has provided personalized service since its opening in 1964. The shop was originally constructed by Milt Moose and Chuck Mace, with Milt running the shop and Chuck owning the property. In 1976, Jim Caywood purchased the shop, introducing Jim’s Automotive and a NAPA store. Ownership changed hands multiple times, with significant developments including John Daschian’s purchase in 1980, followed by John Neiswanger in 1981 who expanded the shop to occupy the entire building in 1983. In 1985, John purchased the property from Chuck and Doris Mace, allowing them to retire and sail around the world. The shop continues to thrive under Ritchie Wimmer, who acquired it in 2013 and serves as the shop teacher at Morro Bay High School.

We’re the only ASE Blue Shield shop within a 300-mile radius, and we stand behind our repairs with an incredible 3-year/36,000 mile nationwide warranty. Additionally, you can breathe easy knowing that you’re even more important to us than your vehicle. Therefore, we offer a lot of customer conveniences to ensure that we’re taking great care of you. For instance, we wash/detail your auto at no additional charge before returning it to you. We also offer options for concierge service and after hours pick-up/drop-off. Further, we can give you a free local shuttle ride and keep you posted via text/email. We accept cash, check, debit card, major credit card, and Apple Pay.
