Gunnar Shelby

About Gunnar
Gunnar Shelby, the heart and soul behind “Tide & Tunes” on KWIMM 89.9, grew up in the small town of Creston, California, where the rolling hills and open skies defined his country lifestyle. From an early age, Gunnar was immersed in ranch life, helping his family raise horses, pigs, sheep, quail, turkeys, and chickens on their beloved farm. For most of his youth, Gunnar believed his path was set—he would follow in his family’s footsteps and become a rancher, tending to the land and the animals he loved.
That all changed when he got his hands on his uncle’s old 1986 Ford F-150. With its rugged charm and the echoes of a bygone era, the truck sparked a new passion in Gunnar. Suddenly, his love for the farm found a perfect companion in his love for old trucks and cars. The smell of diesel, the feel of the wheel, and the open road became just as important to him as the life he led on the ranch.
On any given day, you might find Gunnar on the family ranch, strumming his guitar and serenading the animals with old Hank Williams tunes. His love for classic country music runs deep, and it’s not uncommon for the horses to gather near when they hear the familiar twang of his guitar. Though Gunnar races horses on occasion, he’s content to take life a little slower when it comes to his trucks. For him, nothing beats a dirt road, an old guitar, and a stunning California sunset.
When he’s not on the airwaves or strumming a tune, Gunnar works on tractors and heavy machinery, keeping the family farm running smoothly. His hands are as skilled with a wrench as they are with a guitar, and he takes pride in the work he does to keep the ranch thriving.
“Tide & Tunes” is where Gunnar brings his love of country life, music, and classic vehicles to KWIMM’s listeners. His show is a tribute to the simpler things in life—the open road, the sound of an old engine, and the timeless twang of a country song. Tune in to “Tide & Tunes” and let Gunnar Shelby take you on a journey through the heart of country living, where every note and every mile is a story waiting to be told.”
